5th Quarter Animation

The program I have been using is adobe flash and the ways it is being used include: frame by frame animation, tween animation, and to draw to complete my animation. Now Adobe flash is a vector based application used to create vector graphics, animation, browser games, rich Internet applications, desktop applications, mobile applications, and mobile games. Flash also displays text, vector and raster graphics to provide animations for video games and applications. Flash graphics and animation is designed using the Flash editor, and may be viewed by users using Flash Player, AIR or third-party players such as Scaleform GFx for video games.

My story is about a clown that tries to make friends through bullying. The story takes place in a typical neighborhood it also transitions into a playground. He looks like a killer klown and tries to scare the kids of his neighborhood. The kids do not like klowns so they get a fright. They run in fear to hide behind a tree. All but one kid runs to hide, the smallest stays behind to confront him. As the kids are peaking from behind the tree the klown is jumping up and down trying to scare the kid that is confronting him. After trying multiple times to scare him the klown decides to give up and starts to break down in tears. As he cries the other kids come from behind the tree to see the little kid consoling him and they all go to help, after they all go to play at the park.

After working with flash I feel that I can have a career within this field. I have had fun with this project because it is my own animation. To complete my animation I still need to finish about half of the animation I am about where the kids run behind the tree. This is within act 2 so I still need to complete act 2 and act 3. In the terms of sound I still need to put in some sound effects like the crying and laughter of the children.

Here is my 5th quarter animation.

Story Treatment

The Red One.
Written by Tyler Kolander

An insecure child tries to make friends after being bullied.

Main Character: Jimmi Red stick figure
Other Key Characters: Group of 5 stick figure kids.
Who: Jimmi and neighborhood kids.
What: Jimmi is walking.
When: Night time.
Why: He's heading home.
Where: The street’s sidewalk.

On a sunny day, we see a bunch of stick figures playing around the park. Around the corner a tall, scary looking clown named Jimmi walks toward the park. A group of kids stop playing when they hear a scary clown laugh scream.  They all bring their hands to their mouths and gasp, “Huah”.  The group of kids all run and hide behind a tree except for the smallest one in the group and just stands there as the clown walks towards him. the clown displays his scariest moves as he walks to confront the kid. The clown and the kid just stare at eachother while the other kids shake up and down and look on and around the tree.  The clown jumps up and down and tries again to scare the kid but the kid does not budge. The kids slowly walk from behind the tree to stand behind the kid.

The kid confronts and points at the clown moving his finger from side to side. The clown jumps up and down, stomps his feet with his fist clenched. The kid just stares at the clown and crosses his arms.  The group of kids all cross their arms.  The clown slouches over with head down and arms weightless reaching over his knees and begins to cry. The group of kids step up side by side with the little kid who then steps toward the scary clown and holds his hand. The rest of the group circle around the clown and the kid patting and touching him to console him. The clown turns into a drama queen and starts to sob like a baby.

After a while he stops sobbing and he begins to pull off his costume which drops to the ground. There is complete silence. The group of kids stare at the costume while the little kid stares now at a little kid who stands in front of him.  The little kid grabs the hand of the other little kid and gently pulls him toward the playground where they were playing earlier. All of the other kids took off running and assumed playing all around the park.

character development

Meet jimmi he's a clown, he has a hook hand and he likes to Scare little children, The kids that he scares believe that when he catches them he murders them and gets rid of the body quietly.  According to the legend he has some super powers he can run through walls, he also can read your thoughts and desires to find out when he needs to take you to hell.
The truth is that he is truly a kid himself and is just lonely and wants friends. Athough that when he was in school everyone picked on him. He likes to walk down the streets at night. He dislikes children and society.
Real life scares him and he doesn't want to be alive so he pretends to be a dead clown. The hook on his hand happened back in when the kids that were bulling him tripped him on to a train track as it was going by.

Flash Background

In my fourth quarter in my contemporary media class, for my first project I had to create a flash background image. Before we animate our movie, we will use layers to animate content but first we had to create 5 layers to hold the animation. The background content will show throughout the animation without changing.

Third Quarter Final

During this quarter in my contemporary media class, I had the opportunity to learn Adobe Illustrator. We used what we learned to create a holiday greeting card. The greeting card had requirements and some of them are a snowman, a snowy background, a sun, and Happy Holidays.

The process I took to complete this project began with an outline of everything. I started with the outline of the body and head. Then I created an outline of the arms and the facial features. After creating these I created a hat and the background. after the outlines were done I had to add in different elements to create shadows, snow, the sun, ground, and extra details for the arms and face.

In conclusion I had a lot of fun on this project. I had fun because this was surprisingly easy for me due to the fact that I have done something visually similar. This project has taught me that in Illustrator there are many tools that must be used to create such a simple project. In the future I wish to do more in Illustrator along my career that will help my skills and understanding of computer graphics.
